Haaland Fastest to 100 Premier League Goals The goal machine that is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland broke yet another record this week as he reached the benchmark of 100 Premier League goals in the fewest games. It took the Norwegian sharpshooter just 111 games to reach the century, smashing Alan Shearer’s long-standing record. It took the Blackburn and Newcastle ace 124 games to reach his ton, and it took almost three decades for anyone to beat that. Many tried and failed to better Shearer’s race-to-100, with Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero coming the closest. Now it has fallen to perhaps the great goalscorer of his generation to show the others how it’s done, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Haaland’s new record lasts three decades or more. How Haaland Reached a Ton of Premier League Goals 🔵🇳🇴 Erling Haaland becomes the fastest player ever to reach 100 goals in Premier League. 111 games. 100 goals. ✨🤖 pic.twitter.com/praxHtG7tf — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 2, 2025 Given the astounding form with which Haaland blasted onto the scene when he began life in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season, it is perhaps surprising it’s taken him so long to get to 100 goals. After moving from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City in May 2022, he hit the ground running when the Premier League season began, scoring twice on his league debut against West Ham on 7th August 2022. Less than three weeks after that, he bagged his first EPL hat-trick, against Crystal Palace, and then followed up a few days later with a so-called “perfect hat-trick” against Nottingham Forest. Haaland barely put a foot wrong in his rookie season for the Cityzens and netted an astounding 36 goals in 35 games. That was a new Premier League record, better than the totals of 34 goals scored by Andy Cole in 1993/94 (in 40 games), and Alan Shearer in 1994/95 (in 42 games). He also won the European Golden Shoe that season, and netted a total of 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions for City. Second and Third Terms Not Quite as Sensational Although Haaland didn’t quite hit the same scoring heights in his second season, his total of 27 goals in 31 Premier League matches was still at a rate of 0.87 goals per game (compared to just over a goal per game in his first campaign with City). With 63 EPL goals in the bag after just two seasons, many fans and pundits thought he might polish off the ton by the end of his third campaign under Pep Guardiola. It wasn’t to be, however, as both Haaland and City in general fell short of their extremely high standards in 2024/25. That’s not to say the Norwegian’s haul of 22 goals in 31 Premier League goals wasn’t impressive. It’s just that everyone had got used to him blowing away the competition when it came to scoring and he was only the third-highest scorer in the league that season, with Mohamed Salah scoring 29 goals for Liverpool and Alexander Isak coming in second with 23 strikes for Newcastle. Still, with 85 Premier League goals in the bag from just 97 games, it was only a matter of time before he bettered Shearer’s mark of 100 goals in 124. Fast Start to 2025/26 as Record Falls Haaland (Jose Breton- Pics Action, Shutterstock) Haaland wasted little time in 2025/26 getting to 100 goals, scoring his final 15 league strikes in just 14 matches. His scoring stats are, at the time of writing, back to where they were in his first season in English football, and he got his 100th goal in an almost ludicrous match: a 5-4 away victory over Fulham. The powerful Norwegian called the achievement “A proud moment,” and went on to say, “The 100 club is a huge thing. To do it this quickly is amazing. I’m proud, I’m happy. I’ve said it many times – a striker for City should score a lot of goals. That’s my job, that’s what I try to do. And I’m not bad at it!” So he appears to be a master at understatement as well as goalscoring! How Many Games Did Others Take to Reach 100 Premier League Goals? There have been many world-class goalscorers to grace the Premier League over the years, and the following have all made it to 100 EPL goals within a very respectable number of games, starting, of course, with the new record holder: Erling Haaland – 111 games Alan Shearer – 124 games Harry Kane – 141 games Sergio Aguero – 147 games Thierry Henry – 160 games Mohamed Salah – 162 games Ian Wright – 173 games Robbie Fowler – 175 games Les Ferdinand – 178 games Michael Owen – 185 games Andy Cole – 185 games Will Haaland Break Shearer’s Top Premier League Goalscorer Record? Alan Shearer statue (Graeme J Baty, Shutterstock) Despite his scoring prowess, Haaland still has a long way to go if he is to become the all-time top Premier League scorer. Shearer occupies top spot with a highly impressive total of 260 goals. But there are plenty of players between the former Newcastle man and Haaland. Harry Kane (213) and Wayne Rooney (208) are the only other players to have netted more than 200 Premier League goals, but the following all have 150 or more: Mohamed Salah (190 and counting), Andy Cole (187), Sergio Aguero (184), Frank Lampard (177), Thierry Henry (175), Robbie Fowler (163), and Michael Owen (150). If Haaland keeps going at the current rate, it won’t be long before he hits 150, too, and then Shearer really will be looking over his shoulder. Football
