Bingo in Manchester Although bingo is a game that takes place all over the country and even all over the world, there is something about it that feels very Northern. Perhaps its the working class nature of it as a night’s entertainment or the fact that it regularly takes place in the likes of Blackpool. Whatever the reason, there will be plenty of people keen to head to an afternoon or a night of bingo when in a Northern town, with Manchester being high on the list for many. Looking at the Bingo Halls There are numerous different bingo halls that people can attend in the Greater Manchester region, which also includes Stockport and Salford, so we take a look at all of the different options here: Club 3000 Bingo Hyde Road 477 Hyde Road, Manchester, M12 5FL The Club 3000 Bingo offering on Hyde Road offers a number of different bingo sessions through the day and into to the evening. The venue is purpose-built, meaning that you will get one of the best bingo experiences around that is wheelchair accessible, if that’s what you need. The friendly staff are happy to guide you through the experience of playing bingo, which is especially helpful if you’re a newcomer to it all, whilst the prize money on offer is decent. In addition to the large and impressive bingo hall, there is also an area with loads of slot machines available to play. Club 3000 Bingo Middleton Arndale Shopping Centre, Middleton, Manchester, M24 4EL Don’t confuse the Arndale in Middleton with the one in the centre of Manchester and expect to be able to play some bingo there. This one is in the town of Middleton and Club 3000 Bingo is open at various times throughout the week and into the weekend for all of your bingo needs. There is a licensed bar and the ability to get some food, so if you wanted to make a day of your bingo playing experience then you’d be able to do just that. Obviously Club 3000 Bingo is a chain, so what’s on offer at the Middleton venue isn’t all that different from what you’d be able to experience at the others, so if you like one you’ll like them all. Club 3000 Bingo Old Trafford 601 Chester Road, Manchester, M16 0QW Old Trafford is more commonly associated with sport, with the home of Manchester United based there as well as the cricket ground. If you want to get involved with some bingo, however, then you can head on down to the Club 3000 Bingo club there and get stuck in to the fun and sociable atmosphere that’s on offer. The look of the club is much more old-fashioned than some of the others on this list, largely because it doesn’t have the same purpose-built nature to it and is instead inside a pre-existing building. That tends to give it a good personality, though, and many of the punters enjoy the feel to the place. Club 3000 Bingo Walkden Ellesmere Shopping Centre, Bolton Road, Manchester, M28 3TZ When you walk into the Club 3000 Bingo venue in Walkden, the first thing that you’ll see is a host of spot machines. That should give you a sense of what to expect when you get inside, with the betting and gaming being front and centre. You can still get some food and a drink, of course, but it is the state-of-the-art bingo that will be the key part of your experience. There are sessions in the afternoon and evening, promising plenty of opportunity to get involved. Obviously it’s on the outskirts of Manchester, but still very much counts in the ‘Greater Manchester’ bracket that we’re looking at and is a good place for bingo. Cosmo Bingo Eccles 241 Liverpool Road, Eccles, Manchester, M30 0SD Located about six miles from Manchester city centre, Cosmo Bingo in Eccles is one of two offerings from the chain. It has been in existence for more than 30 years, with clubs first opening in the 1980s. It was bought by a new parent company in 2019, with money being spent on refurbishing the bingo hall as well as the arcade area. That means that it has a much more luxury feel than it used to, albeit maintaining the old-fashioned bingo feel that players tend to love. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is a licensed bar on offer. There is also the Smart Lounge, giving players somewhere to head to watch TV whilst they play. Cosmo Bingo Stalybridge 62 Market Street, Stalybridge, SK15 2AB This is taking Greater Manchester to its extreme, but you can get to Stalybridge easily enough and the bingo hall on offer here first opened on Valentine’s Day 1980. That means the building it is housed in is very much on the list of places worth a visit. Don’t think that means that you’re going to have to get your dabber out to play the bingo though; the latest and greatest technology is employed to ensure that you can enjoy some high-quality bingo games. There are two well-stocked bars, as well as the chain’s Smart Lounge, which you can use if you’d rather have a chat with others and watch some TV instead of being in the main bingo hall. Bingo Balls Printworks, 27 Withy Grove, Manchester, M4 2BS The bingo on offer at Bingo Balls is unlike the sort of thing you’re likely to have experienced in the past, complete with a ball pit bar where you can take a break. The bingo isn’t quite the classical sort your nan will’ve played, with wacky prizes on offer and mini-games throughout. There is a beer pong table on offer and the atmosphere is one of people looking for a good time. Bingo Balls is only open on selected days of the week with different times for each day, so make sure you check out the website before heading down. It sells itself as an adult playground, which should give you a sense of what you’ll experience. Buzz Bingo & the Slots Room Stockport 30 New Bridge Lane, Stockport, SK1 2NA It isn’t always the case that a place’s name tells you all of the information that you need, but it’s fair to say that it is when it comes to Buzz Bingo & The Slots Room in Stockport. It is the Slots Room that you’ll walk into first, offering loads of chances to engage in some slot play if that’s your bag. The Main Hall for the bingo is at the back, offering a late space that has a wealth of different tables so you’ll almost never struggle for somewhere to sit. There are plenty of chances to play bingo throughout the day and into the evening, with both food and drink available if you fancy making a day of it at this chain bingo venue. Buzz Bingo & the Slots Room Ashton 108 Wellington Road, Ashton Under Lyne, OL6 6DJ Ashton Under Lyne is on the outskirts of Manchester but still easily close enough for its inhabitants to consider themselves Mancunians. The Buzz Bingo & The Slots Room on offer there has a similar layout to the one in Stockport, so you’ll be walking through the slot area before you make it to the bingo hall itself. You even have to walk through the cafĂ©, but at least you know where to go if you get peckish. The bingo hall itself isn’t quite as big as the Stockport offering, but still has plenty of room for those that wish to sit down and play. With modern methods of play on offer, there is loads to like about the Buzz Bingo chain. Bongo’s Bingo Albert Hall, 27 Peter Street, Manchester, M2 5QR | More Information Likely to take place in a venue, such as an abandoned church, Bongo’s Bingo is bingo but not like you’ve ever experienced it before. It is a wild night (or day, sometimes) that involves dancers, mad prizes and people tending to spend their time drinking and dancing more than trying to play bingo. You can actually turn up and just play bingo if you want to, but if you do that then you’re missing out on half of the fun of what the night entails so it would seem like a bit of a waste.
