Bingo Balls Manchester Closed After Just Three Years There was a time in which it seemed as though any modern take on the old-fashioned game of bingo was destined to succeed. After the brilliant Bongo’s Bingo left Liverpool and took over the world, it felt as though it had tapped into something and all you needed to do was offer some stupid prizes and play dance music and your bingo venture would be a success. That evidently isn’t the case, however, with Bingo Balls in Manchester shutting its doors after just three years. The ‘adult playground’ that even offered a ball pool bar and beer pong is no more, but what was it and why has it disappeared from Manchester bingo scene? Bingo Balls Opened in 2022 Once the world started to open back up again after having been closed because of the global health crisis, people wanted to do something silly and crazy to celebrate their re-found freedom. It was that attitude that Bingo Balls wanted to tap into, promising a ball pit that wasn’t like the sort of ones that kids can play in at a Whacky Warehouse. In fact, it offered two ball pits, both of which were lit up with LED lights that made it perfect for the Instagram market. It wasn’t just about the ball pits, however. The venue was as much about the events that it hosted as it was about getting to play with your balls whilst in there. Everything from drag brunches to burlesque shows were hosted at Bingo Balls, as well assume of the best DJs from the likes of Zante and Ibiza banging out the tunes that 90s and 00s lovers would remember. It was the bingo that helped to set it apart from other bars around Manchester, though, and those hoping to take part in games and win some daft prizes would head along to the Printworks in their droves. You could dive headfirst into the ball bit and then get ready to mark your card, all whilst sipping on some cocktails or other drinks and munching down on some tasty food, including a retro-inspired pick n mix. Closing its Doors Sadly, the party couldn’t last forever. Bingo Balls has now closed its doors for the final time and a visit to the company’s website is greeted by a depressing message that reads: Bingo Balls is now closed. Thank you for years of incredible parties. The website also directs you to Cargo Manchester, which might well give us some sense of why it was that Bingo Balls closed down. Cargo Manchester, the website informs us, is the ‘Home of partying in Manchester’. It looks as though Cargo is located in the area where Bingo Balls was based in the Printworks, putting everything that you might want for a club night ‘under one roof’. Cargo looks to have taken some of the aspects of Bingo Balls, such as the DJs and boozy brunches, and put them in a new location with more floors and much more to offer. The one thing that seems to be missing from Cargo, however, is the ability to play some bingo. Instead, you can head along for differently themed nights that mostly seem to involve drinking and music. Whether Bingo Balls was closed in order to make way for Cargo or the likely arrival of Cargo meant that Bingo Balls wasn’t going to survive is difficult to tell, but one exists and the other, sadly, no longer does.
